What is wabi-sabi in the tea ceremony?
Let's explain the etymology of wabi-sabi.
"Wabi-sabi" is a combination of two words, "wabi (侘び)" and "sabi (寂び)", which originally had separate meanings.
Etymology of "wabi (侘び)"
It is the noun form of the verb "wabu (侘ぶ)".Original meaning: It had a negative meaning representing lack or incompleteness, such as "lacking" or "not perfect".
