Natsume (棗)_Tea container in July

the Kizō natsume, a tea caddy shaped with a star motif. Are you familiar with this kind of natsume? My first impression was that it looked quite modern and geometric.

The Kizō natsume is a black chūnatsume (medium-sized tea caddy) favored by Ennōsai, featuring a design based on the Nine Stars (kyūsei), often seen in traditional fortune-telling. These include:
Ippaku Suisei (One White Water Star),
Jikoku Dosei (Two Black Earth Star),
Sanpeki Mokusei (Three Blue Wood Star),
Shiroku Mokusei (Four Green Wood Star),
Gōō Dosei (Five Yellow Earth Star),
Roppaku Kinsei (Six White Metal Star),
Shichiseki Kinsei (Seven Red Metal Star),
Happaku Dosei (Eight White Earth Star), and
Kyūshi Kasei (Nine Purple Fire Star).

Using red and blue lacquer, the Five Yellow Star, which symbolizes the center, is depicted on the lid (the “shell”), while the remaining eight stars are drawn around the sides of the caddy.

亀蔵棗とは？

亀蔵棗は、裏千家十三代・圓能斎（えんのうさい）好みの黒中棗で、その名は塗師・中村亀蔵に由来するとされます。形状は標準的な中棗ですが、装飾が非常に特徴的です。

意匠の特徴

• 九星（きゅうせい）をモチーフにしているというのが最大のポイントです。九星とは、陰陽道や九星気学で用いられる九つの星：
